Stila In The Garden Palette

Not to be confused with the 'In the light' palette, this beautiful little box of 10 eyeshadows is my first product from Stila. I can say without a shadow of a doubt, it won't be the last though and I need to jump right in and talk about the quality of these shadows. They're super soft, they have excellent pigmentation and they blend like a dream and those 3 things are really what most people look for in the quality of the eyeshadows they buy, right?

Swatches L-R Moss, Honey & Breeze

I do like the look of the much loved 'In the light' palette but the colours are much lighter and it's definitely more of a neutral shade range, this one however, is kind of the best of both worlds for me. It's got neutrals but it's also got a few colourful shades like Juniper and Rosette, so if you want a pop of green or purple under the eye then you've got everything to hand in one palette. Admittedly my most loved and used shades are more on the neutral side, such as Breeze (swatched above). It's the perfect shimmery champagne shade and I use it a lot on the lid. Most of the colours in the palette are either shimmer or all out glitter (such as Moss, a beautiful warm chocolate with specks of gold glitter), but there are two matte highlight shades as well.

This did also come with one of Stila's smudge stick eyeliners in Starfish, a gorgeous metallic grey, but unfortunately I've misplaced it, so you'll just have to trust me that it's lovely!

I really like the sturdy cardboard packaging, although I know it won't be to everyone's tastes, it causes no problems for me. The fact that you get a large mirror inside is always handy and I find that I reach for this, sometimes just for the mirror. I got the palette in December and I've pretty much used it every day since. Compared to Urban Decay Naked palettes (£37 each) and MAC (£12.50 per single eyeshadow) this is great value for money at £25 for 10 shades plus the eyeliner. And it's definitely equal in quality. This is my favourite eyeshadow palette at the moment, although I'm currently waiting for my Naked 3 palette to arrive, so let's see if that pushes this one off the top spot!

  2. I was juggling between this and the In The Light palette a couple months back. I ended up getting the ITL, but seeing these swatches again, especially of Moss and Honey, you're tempting me to go and get this one as well x

    1. I can see why you went for 'in the light' so many wearable shades, but I definitely recommend getting this one too if you can, you can never have too many palettes! x
